Continente Lombos de Bacalhau

Continente Lombos de Bacalhau is a private-label salted cod loin product produced for the prominent Portuguese hypermarket and supermarket chain Continente. The Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) used for bacalhau is typically wild-caught in the North Atlantic (such as Norway or Iceland) and cured and processed in Portugal.

Continente originated in Portugal in 1985 as the country's first hypermarket chain, initially as a joint venture with Promodès before coming under full Portuguese management and ownership. Today, Continente is the primary retail brand of MC (formerly Sonae MC), the retail division of Sonae SGPS, S.A., one of Portugal's largest multinational conglomerates headquartered in Maia, Portugal.
