Tunnock's Teacakes are an iconic Scottish confectionery created by Thomas Tunnock Ltd. Founded in 1890 by Thomas Tunnock in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, the company initially started as a local bakery. The famous Tunnock's Milk Chocolate Teacake—consisting of a round shortbread biscuit base topped with soft Italian meringue marshmallow and enrobed in milk chocolate—was developed in 1956 by Sir Boyd Tunnock.

All authentic Tunnock's Teacakes continue to be produced exclusively at the company's historic bakery in Uddingston, Scotland. From this single factory location, Tunnock's supplies retailers throughout the United Kingdom and exports its confectionery across the globe.

Thomas Tunnock Ltd remains an independent, family-owned Scottish business. Ownership and operation continue under the Tunnock family, preserving decades of Scottish bakery heritage and independent confectionery manufacturing.
