Founded in Edinburgh and London in 1997 by Mark Tyndall, John Dodd, Derek Stuart, and Lindsay Whitelaw, the firm established an enviable reputation under its distinct Artemis hunter logo and 'Profit Hunter' ethos. The business grew rapidly in the UK retail asset management space.

Artemis operates with an autonomous operational partnership model but is majority-owned by Affiliated Managers Group (AMG), a global asset management company based in the United States.
