The brand originated in the Netherlands and was historically developed by Chefaro (Chefaro Nederland B.V.), a pharmaceutical company based in Rotterdam that built many consumer healthcare staples. Chefaro was acquired by the Belgian healthcare group Omega Pharma in 2001, which in turn was acquired by the American specialty pharmaceutical company Perrigo Company plc in 2015. Perrigo remains the ultimate owner of the brand.
