The Sleeman brewing tradition dates back to 1834 in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, founded by John H. Sleeman. Although the original brewery shut down in 1933 following a Prohibition-era smuggling controversy, it was re-established in 1988 by John W. Sleeman using original family recipes.

In 2006, Sleeman Breweries was acquired by Sapporo Breweries, a major Japanese beverage conglomerate headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Sleeman continues to brew and package its beverages, including this non-alcoholic lager, at its Canadian facilities in Guelph, Ontario.
