Mahou is one of the most iconic beer brands in Spain, with its origins tracing back to 1890 when the Mahou family founded "Hijos de Casimiro Mahou" in Madrid. From its original brewery on Calle Amaniel, the company grew into a staple of Spanish bar culture and brewing heritage.

Corporate Ownership

The brand is owned and operated by Mahou San Miguel (legally registered as Mahou, S.A.), Spain's largest beer producer. In 2000, Mahou acquired a majority stake in San Miguel Spain, officially creating the Mahou San Miguel group. The company remains an independent, 100% Spanish family-owned business headquartered in Madrid.

Production and Global Presence

Mahou beer sold in Spain and internationally is brewed in Spain across Mahou San Miguel's regional production centers, notably its primary brewery in Alovera (Guadalajara), as well as other facilities nationwide.
