Hans J. Wegner Flag Halyard Chair (PP225)

The Flag Halyard Chair, designated as PP225, is a quintessential piece of Danish modernist furniture design. Created by the legendary designer Hans J. Wegner in 1950, the chair was reportedly inspired by a day at the beach where Wegner dug himself into the sand to find a comfortable lounging position. Unlike many of his other wooden masterpieces, this chair features a frame made of solid stainless steel and a seat and back made from 240 meters of specially developed flag halyard.

Today, the chair is manufactured by PP Møbler, a family-owned Danish joinery workshop established in 1953. Known for its uncompromising commitment to craftsmanship and quality, PP Møbler produces the chair in Denmark. The design typically includes a long-haired sheepskin to soften the industrial feel of the steel and rope, maintaining its status as a luxury design icon worldwide. The ownership remains within the Danish company, ensuring that the original design specifications and artisanal techniques are preserved.
