The brand was originally founded by Jack Wilson in 1958 in California. Following the founder's passing, the company remained a dedicated family-run operation. It was eventually relaunched by Wilson's grandson, Alex Jacobsen, who ensured that the manufacturing returned to the United States to maintain the original quality and specifications.

Today, Auratone products continue to be manufactured in Nashville, Tennessee. The brand remains independently owned by the founding family's descendants, preserving its heritage as an essential tool for recording engineers and producers worldwide.
