Vecchio Amaro del Capo is a symbol of Calabrian tradition, rooted in the expertise of the Caffo family. The brand's history began in the late 19th century when Giuseppe Caffo started distilling pomace on the slopes of Etna, eventually purchasing a distillery in Limbadi, Calabria, in 1915. This specific amaro was developed based on a secret family recipe involving 29 medicinal herbs, flowers, fruits, and roots.

The product is exclusively manufactured in the Limbadi plant in the province of Vibo Valentia, Italy. It is celebrated for its unique serving suggestion—being served ice-cold at -20°C to enhance its botanical notes. To this day, the brand remains under the stewardship of the founding family through the Gruppo Caffo 1915, maintaining its heritage as an independent Italian producer.
