Häagen-Dazs Strawberries & Cream Ice Cream

Häagen-Dazs is an American ice cream brand established by Reuben and Rose Mattus in the Bronx, New York, in 1960. Despite the Scandinavian-sounding name, which was invented to suggest an aura of old-world craftsmanship, the brand is purely American in origin. It began with only three flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and coffee.

Today, the manufacturing of Häagen-Dazs is decentralized. Products for the North American market are generally produced in the United States, while products for the European, Middle Eastern, and Asian markets (excluding Japan) are primarily manufactured in France at the Tilloy-lès-Mofflaines plant. The brand's ownership structure is complex due to historical licensing agreements: General Mills owns the brand globally, but in the United States and Canada, the brand is operated by Froneri (a joint venture between Nestlé and PAI Partners) under a long-term license.
