Faro is a traditional style of Belgian lambic beer, characterized by its unique blend of young and old lambic and the addition of brown sugar. To this day, Faro remains an authentic specialty of the Payottenland region in Belgium, where spontaneous fermentation is made possible by the unique microflora of the Zenne valley.

Historically, Faro was a staple drink in 19th-century Brussels. While several traditional lambic brewers produce their own Faro, the most prominent commercial version is produced by Lindemans Brewery. The brand remains family-owned and deeply rooted in Belgian brewing heritage, maintaining artisanal production methods that have been passed down through generations.

As of 2024 and looking toward 2026, the brand is owned by the Lindemans family. Unlike many other major Belgian beer brands that have been acquired by multinational conglomerates, Lindemans remains an independent, family-run brewery based in Vlezenbeek, Belgium. They continue to be the primary distributor and producer for the global market.
