Galp service station

Galp is the leading Portuguese energy brand, primarily known for its extensive network of service stations across the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal and Spain). The brand's history is deeply intertwined with Portugal's energy evolution, tracing its roots back to 1846 with the introduction of gas street lighting in Lisbon.

The modern entity, Galp Energia, was officially established in 1999 following a state-led merger of several nationalized companies, including Petrogal, Gás de Portugal, and Transgás. While the 'Galp' name and its iconic 'G' logo were first introduced in 1976 as a trademark for Petrogal, the brand has since transformed from a traditional oil and gas supplier into an integrated energy operator.

Today, Galp's operations span the entire value chain, from exploration and production in Brazil and Africa to the retail of fuels, electricity, and renewable energy. Its service stations have evolved into multi-functional hubs featuring convenience stores, cafes (under sub-brands like Goody), and electric vehicle charging networks. Ownership is distributed among several major entities, with Amorim Energia being the largest shareholder, alongside the Portuguese state (via Parpública) and a significant percentage of public float on the Euronext Lisbon stock exchange.
