The company's history began in 1921 when Karl Scheffer-Klute founded a curtain rod factory in Sundern, Germany. It transitioned into the bicycle industry in 1932 by acquiring a local air pump factory. Since then, the brand has remained firmly rooted in the Sauerland region of Germany.

SKS Germany is celebrated for its "Made in Germany" commitment, with approximately 95% of its products still produced at its headquarters in Sundern.
