Founded in 1993 by Xavier Kegels in Antwerp, Belgium, Hedgren has established itself as a premier global lifestyle brand known for its functional and minimalist bag designs. The brand was named after Kegels' grandmother, Elisabeth Hedgren, reflecting a heritage of intuitive design and practical elegance. While its creative roots and design headquarters remain firmly in Antwerp, the brand transitioned to global ownership in 2011.

Hedgren was acquired by the League Group, a major manufacturing and retail enterprise based in Hangzhou, China. This acquisition allowed the brand to leverage vast manufacturing resources while maintaining its Belgian design DNA. Today, most Hedgren products are manufactured in South China to take advantage of advanced textile and assembly infrastructure, with some production also moving to other Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam. The brand continues to expand its international presence, operating in over 50 countries through an extensive network of retail points and digital platforms.
