Volvo Cars, an icon of Swedish engineering and safety, has a rich heritage dating back to 1927 when it was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden. Originally established as a subsidiary of the ball bearing manufacturer SKF, Volvo quickly became known for prioritizing safety and quality above all else. In 2010, the brand underwent a significant transformation when it was acquired by the Chinese automotive giant Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Under Geely’s ownership, Volvo Cars has seen a global expansion and a major shift toward electrification and sustainable technology. The brand maintains its global headquarters and primary design centers in Gothenburg, Sweden, while operating major assembly plants in Torslanda (Sweden), Ghent (Belgium), Charleston (South Carolina, USA), and several locations across China (Daquing, Chengdu, and Luqiao).
