BYD Passenger Car

BYD (abbreviation for 'Build Your Dreams', originally founded as BYD Company Limited) entered the European and German automotive markets offering passenger electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Initially established in Shenzhen, China in 1995 as a rechargeable battery manufacturer, BYD entered the automotive sector in 2003 through the acquisition of Xi'an Qinchuan Automobile.

Today, BYD is a publicly traded multinational conglomerate headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. It is renowned globally as one of the largest producers of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids. While its primary manufacturing base remains in China across advanced megaplants, the company is actively expanding its global production footprint, including new manufacturing facilities in Southeast Asia, South America, and Europe (such as Hungary).

In Germany, BYD distributes and services its electric vehicles via dedicated local automotive dealership partnerships and its European corporate arm, BYD Europe B.V.
