Profi Supermarket Retail Service

Profi is one of Romania's largest supermarket and convenience store chains, boasting an extensive network of thousands of locations across urban and rural areas. Originally launched in Romania in 2000 by Belgian retail group Louis Delhaize, Profi expanded rapidly over the following decades under various ownership structures, including private equity management by Polish Enterprise Fund VI (Enterprise Investors) and subsequently MidEuropa Partners.

In late 2023, Dutch multinational retail giant Ahold Delhaize agreed to acquire Profi Rom Food SRL, with regulatory approvals completing the transaction in 2024–2025. This acquisition integrated Profi alongside Ahold Delhaize's existing Romanian banner, Mega Image, significantly expanding the group's retail footprint across Eastern Europe.

While Profi operates as a brick-and-mortar grocery retail chain in Romania, U.S. consumers encounter the name primarily through related global retail entities or European specialty importers distributing private-label packaged goods and Romanian culinary specialties to international markets. Note that this grocery chain is distinct from unrelated global trademarks using 'Profi', such as European hardware and tool manufacturers.
