SKIL Power Tool

SKIL is an American-origin brand of power tools and accessories, famously credited with inventing the circular saw (originally known as the Skilsaw) in the 1920s.

The company was founded in 1924 as the Michel Electric Handsaw Company by Edmond Michel and Joseph W. Sullivan in Chicago, Illinois, before taking the name Skilsaw Inc. Over the decades, the SKIL brand established itself globally across both DIY and professional tool categories.

In 1996, SKIL was acquired by the Robert Bosch Tool Corporation. Later, in 2016, Bosch sold the brand and business to the Chinese power tool and outdoor power equipment manufacturer Chervon (Chervon Holdings Limited). Today, SKIL tools are designed globally and primarily manufactured in Chervon's manufacturing facilities in China.
