Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Bowmore is one of the oldest and most prestigious distilleries in Scotland, located on the shores of Loch Indaal on the Isle of Islay. Founded in 1779 by David Simpson, it holds the distinction of being the first recorded distillery on Islay and is home to the legendary No. 1 Vaults, the world's oldest maturation warehouse. The brand is celebrated for its balanced peat smoke and maritime character, influenced by its coastal aging process.

Throughout its long history, Bowmore transitioned through several owners, notably being acquired by Stanley P. Morrison in 1963, who formed Morrison Bowmore Distillers. In 1994, the Japanese spirits giant Suntory Holdings acquired the company, bringing Bowmore into a global portfolio. Following the landmark acquisition of Beam Inc. by Suntory in 2014, the brand became a flagship part of the Beam Suntory division.

Today, Bowmore is managed by Beam Suntory, which is a subsidiary of the Osaka-headquartered Suntory Holdings Limited. While the brand is under Japanese ultimate ownership, every drop of Bowmore whisky continues to be produced, aged, and bottled in Scotland, adhering to strict Scotch Whisky Regulations to maintain its heritage and geographical authenticity.
