Alani Nu was founded in 2018 by fitness influencers Katy Hearn and Haydn Schneider. Originally established as a supplement and wellness brand under Alani Nutrition LLC, it gained significant retail traction through partnerships with major distributors.

In 2023, a major shift in ownership occurred when Congo Brands, the parent company and incubator behind Alani Nu (as well as Prime Hydration), sold a majority stake in the brand to the global beverage giant Keurig Dr Pepper. While the founders remain involved in the creative direction, the brand now benefits from one of the most robust distribution networks in North America. Manufacturing primarily takes place within the United States to support its core market, utilizing Keurig Dr Pepper's extensive bottling and production facilities.
