Mabe Home Appliances

Mabe is a global powerhouse in the home appliance sector, tracing its roots back to Mexico City where it was founded in 1946 by Egon Mabardi and Francisco Berrondo. The company initially gained prominence by manufacturing kitchen furniture and later expanded into gas ranges and refrigerators, becoming a household staple across Latin America.

A defining moment in Mabe's history was its strategic alliance with General Electric (GE) in 1987. This partnership allowed Mabe to export products to the United States and adopt advanced manufacturing technologies. While Mabe operates its own brand, it also became the primary manufacturer for many GE Appliances. Today, while the company remains headquartered in Mexico, the controlling interest and ultimate ownership have evolved through global mergers, with the Chinese multinational Haier Group acquiring GE Appliances and maintaining a dominant stake in Mabe's operations.
