Metaxa 12 Stars Greek Spirit

Metaxa is a unique Greek amber spirit that was first created by Spyros Metaxa in 1888 in Piraeus, the port of Athens. It is often referred to as a brandy, though its production process makes it a distinct category of spirit. It is crafted by blending wine distillates aged in oak barrels with Muscat wines from the island of Samos and a secret bouquet of Mediterranean botanicals and rose petals.

Since its inception, Metaxa has remained deeply rooted in its Greek heritage, with all production continuing to take place in Kifisia, Athens. The brand's emblem, the 'Salamina Warrior', commemorates the ancient Battle of Salamis. While it remains a quintessentially Greek product, the brand has seen various owners over the decades and is currently a key premium label within a major international spirits group.

In 2000, Metaxa was acquired by the French spirits group Rémy Cointreau. Under the ownership of Rémy Cointreau, Metaxa has expanded its global reach as a luxury spirit, marketed alongside other prestigious brands like Rémy Martin cognac. The 12 Stars variant represents a premium expression within the range, known for its complexity and smoothness.
