Alpro is a pioneering brand in the plant-based food industry, founded in Belgium in 1980 by Philippe Vandemoortele. The brand initially focused on soy-based products but has since expanded to include a wide range of alternatives made from almond, hazelnut, oat, and coconut. The product shown includes labeling for the Italian market, distributed by Danone Nutricia S.p.A. Società Benefit.
Manufacturing takes place across several European facilities, primarily in Belgium (Wevelgem), the United Kingdom (Kettering), and France. The brand has underwent several ownership changes, moving from the Vandemoortele Group to Dean Foods, and eventually being acquired by the French multinational Danone in 2017 as part of the WhiteWave Foods acquisition. Today, Danone continues to own and operate Alpro as a key part of its plant-based nutrition portfolio.
