Dainese protective motorcycle and sport equipment

Dainese is a premier Italian brand widely recognized for its high-performance protective gear for motorcycling, mountain biking, skiing, and horse riding. Founded in 1972 by Lino Dainese in Molvena, Italy, the brand initially specialized in leather trousers for motocross. Over the decades, it became a pioneer in safety innovations, developing iconic products such as the back protector and the D-air® airbag system.

The manufacturing process of Dainese products is global. While highly technical and bespoke items for professional athletes are still crafted in Italy, the majority of mass production takes place in Tunisia and Vietnam. Ownership of the brand has transitioned from its founder to private equity groups; since 2022, it has been owned by the American investment firm Carlyle Group. Despite the change in ownership, the brand remains headquartered in Vicenza, Italy, maintaining its heritage in design and safety research.
