Peavey is one of the world's largest manufacturers of musical instruments and professional sound equipment. Founded in 1965 by Hartley Peavey, the company established itself as a pioneer in mass-producing high-quality, affordable gear using CNC machining processes that were revolutionary at the time.

Historically, Peavey was renowned for its massive manufacturing presence in Mississippi, USA. However, in the 21st century, much of its mass-market production has shifted to Asia to remain competitive. Higher-end custom shop models and specific pro-audio gear are still produced or assembled in the United States.

Unlike many of its competitors, Peavey has remained a privately held company controlled by its founder and his family. This continuity has allowed the brand to maintain its identity and focus on musical innovation without the pressures of publicly traded ownership groups.
