Kinder Happy Hippo Cocoa

Kinder Happy Hippo is a world-renowned biscuit treat produced by the Italian confectionery giant Ferrero. Originally launched in 1987, the product was inspired by the popular 'Happy Hippo' collectible toys found inside Kinder Surprise eggs, which were designed by French illustrator André Roche. The treat itself consists of a hippo-shaped crispy wafer filled with two types of cream—typically a milk-flavored cream and a cocoa cream in the 'Cocoa' variant shown here—and decorated with crunchy chocolate sprinkles.

While the Kinder brand was founded in Alba, Italy, in 1968 by Michele Ferrero, the Happy Hippo product has a strong association with Germany. Much of the global supply is manufactured in Ferrero's German facilities, though the company maintains a massive international production network. Ferrero remains a private, family-owned company, managed by the third generation of the Ferrero family, and is currently one of the largest chocolate and confectionery producers in the world.
