Movia bus services

Movia (Trafikselskabet Movia) is Denmark's largest public transport authority, established on January 1, 2007. It does not operate the buses itself but acts as a planning and procurement agency for the regions of Zealand and the Capital Region. The brand is a public entity, fundamentally Danish in its origin and mission to provide mobility for over 200 million passengers annually.

While the brand and the coordination of services are entirely Danish, the manufacturing of the physical buses used in the Movia network is international. The fleet includes vehicles from manufacturers such as Volvo (Sweden), Scania (Sweden), VDL (Netherlands), and various electric bus manufacturers like BYD and Solaris (Poland). This results in a diverse manufacturing origin for the assets that carry the Movia branding.

Ownership is decentralized across the public sector, shared between 45 municipalities and two major regional governments in eastern Denmark. This structure ensures that the service remains a public welfare utility rather than a private commercial enterprise, focusing on sustainability goals such as the complete electrification of the Copenhagen bus network achieved by 2026.
