This product is notable for being made from 100% locally grown organic hazelnuts, a distinct departure from many commercial spreads that rely on imported nuts.

The brand was established by Jan Frenken, who pioneered the first 100% indigenous organic hazelnut paste in the Netherlands around 2004. Unlike mass-market alternatives, this spread contains no added oils or salt, emphasizing the natural flavor of the nuts harvested from the 7.5 hectares of hazelnut trees on the estate. The production remains small-scale and seasonal, directly linked to the annual harvest at the farm. Ownership remains with the founding family via the Gebr. Frenken enterprise.
