The history of Argeta dates back to 1957, when the Slovenian company Droga (later Droga Kolinska) began producing canned chicken paste. The brand name 'Argeta' was officially introduced in the 1960s and quickly grew to dominate the regional and international markets.

Today, Argeta is owned by the Atlantic Grupa, a major consumer goods and distribution multinational based in Zagreb, Croatia. Production is carried out at dedicated specialized factories in Izola (Slovenia) and Hadžići (Bosnia and Herzegovina), serving markets across Central, Eastern, and Western Europe, including Germany.
