Discover where a brand or product originates
Rademaker Hopjes are traditional Dutch coffee-caramel candies whose origins date back to the late 18th century. Baron Hendrik Hop famously inspired the confection in The Hague when his baker, Theodorus van Haaren, created a candy made from sweetened coffee left on a warm stove overnight. Later, in 1880, confectionery manufacturer J.P. Rademaker began commercializing and popularizing his own famous branded version of "Haagsche Hopjes".
Today, the Rademaker Hopjes brand is owned and manufactured by the Dutch confectionery group Cloetta Holland B.V., a subsidiary of Cloetta AB, a publicly traded Swedish confectionery company headquartered in Kista, Stockholm.
