Royal Dutch Gazelle (Koninklijke Gazelle) is one of the most iconic bicycle manufacturers in the Netherlands. Founded in 1892 in Dieren by Willem Kölling and Rudolf Arentsen, the brand began by importing and assembling English bicycles before establishing its own manufacturing plant. Over more than a century, Gazelle evolved into a cornerstone of Dutch cycling culture, earning the prestigious 'Royal' (Koninklijk) designation in 1992 on its centennial anniversary.
Today, Gazelle continues to manufacture and assemble the majority of its city bikes, trekking bikes, and e-bikes at its state-of-the-art production facility and Innovation Center in Dieren, Gelderland. Components such as gears, brakes, motors, and batteries are sourced from specialized global suppliers across Europe and Asia, with final assembly, painting, and quality control centralized in the Netherlands.
Since 2011, Koninklijke Gazelle N.V. has been a core member of Pon Holdings (Pon.Bike), a major Dutch multinational conglomerate based in Amsterdam. Pon Holdings is one of the largest bicycle manufacturers worldwide, owning an extensive portfolio of cycling brands including Cervélo, Santa Cruz, Kalkhoff, and Cannondale.
