Discover where a brand or product originates
Gerber (known formally as Gerber Legendary Blades) was established in 1939 in Portland, Oregon, USA, by Joseph R. Gerber. The brand originally began by crafting handmade cutlery sets and quickly grew to become a prominent manufacturer of knives, multi-tools, and outdoor equipment for outdoor enthusiasts, tradespeople, and military personnel.
In 1987, the Finnish consumer goods corporation Fiskars acquired Gerber Legendary Blades. Under the umbrella of Fiskars Group, Gerber retained its headquarters in Portland, Oregon. While select premium knives and military-issue gear continue to be manufactured at Gerber's Portland facility, a substantial portion of their consumer-grade folding knives and multi-tools are manufactured in China.
Gerber Legendary Blades should not be confused with Gerber Products Company, the unrelated American baby food brand owned by Nestlé.
