Sanex was introduced in 1984 in Spain by the consumer goods manufacturer Grupo Puig, who developed it as a breakthrough bath and body care brand focused on maintaining healthy, naturally balanced skin with its famous soap-free shower gel.
Over the years, the brand transitioned through several corporate owners. In 1993, Puig sold Sanex to the multinational Sara Lee Corporation. In 2011, American consumer goods giant Colgate-Palmolive acquired Sanex from Unilever (who briefly held it during an acquisition deal before antitrust regulations required divestiture). Today, Sanex is wholly owned by Colgate-Palmolive Company.
Sanex personal care formulations, including deodorants and body washes, are produced across multiple production facilities located in Europe, serving key markets across the continent including Spain, the UK, and France.
