The origins of the Santa Maria brand trace back to a small spice store in Gothenburg, Sweden, founded in the early 20th century under Nordfalks AB, which adopted the Santa Maria brand identity in 2001.

Today, Santa Maria is a key brand within the international food and beverage conglomerate Paulig Group, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland. The vast majority of Santa Maria's retail dry spices and seasoning blends sold in Scandinavia are processed and packaged at Paulig's dedicated spice production facility in Saue, Estonia, utilizing spices sourced globally.
