AKG Microphone

Owner:Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (South Korea)
OriginAustria
Manufactured:Multiple countries

AKG Acoustics was originally established in Vienna, Austria, in 1947 by Rudolf Görike and Ernst Pless. Known initially as Akustische und Kino-Geräte Gesellschaft m.b.H., the company quickly established itself as a world-renowned pioneer in professional sound technology, particularly famous for its premium studio microphones and headphones.

In 1994, AKG was acquired by the American audio conglomerate Harman International Industries. In 2017, Harman International was subsequently acquired by Samsung Electronics, making the South Korean electronics giant the ultimate parent company of the AKG brand. Following restructuring by Harman and Samsung, AKG's historic manufacturing facilities and headquarters in Vienna were shut down, and production has since been shifted primarily to international manufacturing hubs, notably in China and other Asian production centers, though some specialized high-end legacy models were historically produced in Austria and Europe.
