Suunto Race sports smartwatch

Suunto is a prestigious Finnish outdoor brand founded in 1936 by Tuomas Vohlonen, an orienteer and inventor who patented a liquid-filled field compass. Over the decades, Suunto expanded from compasses and diving instruments to premium multisport GPS smartwatches.

While Suunto historically produced its high-end compasses and select flagship watches at its headquarters and factory in Vantaa, Finland, modern GPS sports models such as the Suunto Race line are designed in Finland and manufactured in China to combine high-performance AMOLED displays and sports tracking capabilities with cost-effective production.

In 2022, Suunto was acquired from Amer Sports by Dongguan Liesheng Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. (Liesheng), a Chinese consumer electronics and smart wearable company renowned for its Haylou brand. Suunto continues to operate as an independent entity based in Finland.
