Tomado (short for Ton & Manket Dordrecht) is an iconic Dutch household brand founded in 1923 by the brothers Jan and Wim Van der Togt in Dordrecht, Netherlands. The brand gained immense popularity in the mid-20th century across Dutch households with its wire metal housewares, drying racks, and modern bookshelves.
Over the decades, the brand transitioned through different corporate structures. The household metalware and drying rack lines were acquired by the Swiss housewares group Metaltex, while the brand name for small domestic electrical appliances in the Benelux region was acquired by the Dutch small appliances specialist Inventum Huishoudelijke Apparaten B.V. (based in Duiven, Netherlands).
Today, Tomado electrical kitchen appliances—such as contact grills, toasters, kettles, and airfryers—are designed and managed by Inventum in the Netherlands, with manufacturing outsourced to specialized electronic appliance production facilities primarily in China.
