Starburst Sours Chews

First introduced in the United Kingdom in 1960 under the name Opal Fruits, the brand was developed by the British food manufacturing firm Mars Limited. Due to its runaway success, the confection crossed the Atlantic to North America in 1967, where it was introduced under the Starburst moniker before that name was eventually adopted worldwide.

Today, Starburst is part of Mars Wrigley, a primary division of Mars, Incorporated, a multinational confectionery, pet care, and food conglomerate headquartered in McLean, Virginia, United States. In Canada, Starburst and its popular variations—such as Starburst Sours and Starburst Minis—are distributed by Mars Wrigley Confectionery Canada.
