The Yoplait brand traces its roots back to 1965 in France, formed through the merger of two dairy farmer cooperatives: Yola and Coplait. The iconic six-petaled flower logo represents the six founding dairy cooperatives.

In late 2021, the French agricultural cooperative Sodiaal repurchased full control of Yoplait's European operations and global brand rights from General Mills. The yogurt sold in France is produced locally in dairy facilities across France utilizing milk sourced from French dairy farmers.
