Nicola Café

Nicola is one of Portugal's most historic and iconic coffee brands. Its roots date back to the late 18th century, specifically around 1779, with the famed Café Nicola located in Rossio square, Lisbon, which served as a literary gathering spot for intellectuals such as the poet Manuel Maria Barbosa du Bocage. In the 20th century, the business developed into an industrial coffee roasting and distribution venture.

Today, Nicola is part of Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group (MZBG), an Italian coffee multinational that acquired Nutricafés (the former Portuguese owner of Nicola and Chave D'Ouro) in 2016 through its Portuguese operating entity, Segafredo Zanetti Portugal. Production, roasting, and packaging for the Portuguese market remain situated primarily in Portugal at their production facility in Venda Nova (Amadora).
