Mailfence is an end-to-end encrypted, privacy-oriented email and collaborative communication suite launched in November 2013 by ContactOffice Group. All Mailfence services, servers, and data centers are hosted in Belgium, subject to strict Belgian privacy laws and the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The underlying company, ContactOffice Group, has operated collaborative communication tools since 1999 and remains an independent, privately held Belgian software corporation, ensuring that no non-European corporate parent or foreign jurisdiction governs user data.
