DW News (Deutsche Welle News) is the global English-language television and digital news channel of Deutsche Welle, Germany's state-owned international public broadcaster. DW was established on May 3, 1953, originally as a shortwave radio service to connect Germany with listeners worldwide. Over decades, it has evolved into a comprehensive digital and multi-language television news network.

Deutsche Welle is an independent public-law statutory corporation (Anstalt des öffentlichen Rechts) regulated by the Deutsche Welle Act (DW-Gesetz) and funded primarily by federal tax revenue through the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM), rather than Germany's national television licence fee.

While content is distributed across international cable networks, satellite operators, online streaming services, and social platforms worldwide—including across Italy—all major broadcasting and production activities originate from Germany, primarily in Bonn and Berlin.
