Privileg is a well-known European household appliance brand with a long heritage. Originally created in 1964 by the German mail-order giant Quelle GmbH, Privileg became a household staple across German-speaking markets for reliable, affordable domestic appliances, ranging from refrigerators and washing machines to microwaves and cookers.

Following the insolvency of Arcandor (Quelle's parent company) in 2009, the rights to the Privileg brand for household appliances were acquired by the American multinational manufacturer Whirlpool Corporation in 2010. Whirlpool later contributed its European major domestic appliances operations into Beko Europe (a joint venture majority-owned by Arçelik / Koç Holding). Like many countertop and built-in microwave models in this class, the AG820B8Q is primarily engineered and manufactured in China via specialized original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

While predominantly marketed in continental Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Privileg products are also imported into or purchased across the United Kingdom through cross-border European e-commerce channels.
