Brand History and Origin

Lucerne is a well-known brand of dairy products originally created in 1904 in Hanford, California, by a group of dairy farmers. The brand was subsequently acquired by Safeway Inc. in the 1920s, becoming its premier private-label dairy brand across North America.

Canadian Licensing and Ownership

In Canada, following Sobeys' acquisition of Safeway Canada's operations in 2013, rights and dairy processing agreements were structured with Agropur Cooperative. Agropur acquired the Lucerne dairy processing facilities in Western Canada and manufactures, licenses, and distributes Lucerne dairy products across the country.

Manufacturing
