The brand Président was created in France in 1968 by Michel Besnier, founder of the dairy company Besnier (which was renamed Groupe Lactalis in 1999). Although originally famous for French cheeses and butter, the brand offers a wide range of dairy staples across international markets.

Today, the brand belongs to Lactalis (Groupe Lactalis), a multinational dairy corporation headquartered in Laval, Mayenne, France. In Spain, the product is produced locally using Spanish milk collected by Lactalis Iberia / Grupo Lactalis España at its processing facilities.
