Tudor is a prestigious Swiss watchmaker founded in 1926 by Veuve de Philippe Hüther on behalf of Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex. Wilsdorf established Tudor to offer timepieces that matched Rolex's high standards of durability, water resistance, and craftsmanship, but at a more accessible price point. In 1946, Wilsdorf officially formed Montres TUDOR SA to expand the brand's production and identity.
Tudor watches are manufactured exclusively in Switzerland. In 2023, Tudor inaugurated its dedicated state-of-the-art manufacture in Le Locle, Switzerland, uniting watchmaking craftsmanship with advanced production techniques alongside Kenissi, its movement manufacturing arm.
Tudor remains a sister brand to Rolex and operates under the ultimate ownership of the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation (Fondation Hans Wilsdorf), a private family trust headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The trust controls Montres Tudor SA and Rolex SA, dedicating profits to social welfare, environmental preservation, and scientific advancement.
