This product is a Murena smartphone based on hardware produced by Gigaset (such as the Murena GS290 or Gigaset GS5 series powered by the deGoogled /e/OS operating system). Murena is an open-source, privacy-oriented smartphone and cloud brand developed by the French company ECORP SAS / Murena, founded by Gaël Duval.

The hardware is developed and manufactured by Gigaset Communications GmbH, a long-standing German telecommunications company originating from Siemens AG. Gigaset produces many of its smartphones in Bocholt, Germany, emphasizing sustainable European production.

Following corporate restructuring in early 2024, Gigaset was acquired by VTech Holdings Limited, a multinational electronics and educational toy manufacturer headquartered in Hong Kong. The privacy software and Murena branding remain managed by the French privacy-focused organization Murena (ECORP SAS).
