Bahco is an iconic Swedish brand renowned worldwide for its high-quality hand tools. The brand's foundation dates back to the late 19th century when Swedish inventor Johan Petter Johansson patented the pipe wrench in 1888 and the modern adjustable wrench in 1891–1892. In partnership with businessman Berndt August Hjorth, B.A. Hjorth & Co. was formed, later adopting the portmanteau name Bahco. The adjustable wrench—often referred to as a 'Swedish key' or 'skiftenøgle'—became one of the most widely recognized hand tools in the world.

Manufacturing and Production

While Bahco originated in Sweden, its manufacturing operations have shifted over the decades to specialized facilities across Europe. The Bahco 9031 adjustable wrench, part of Bahco's ERGO™ series featuring an extra-wide jaw opening and comfortable thermoplastic ergonomic grip, is primarily manufactured at Bahco's specialized wrench manufacturing plants in Spain (formerly the Irimo/Eurotools production facilities). Certain other components and accessories across the broader Bahco tool catalog are produced in various European locations including France, Sweden, and Portugal.

In 1999, the Bahco Group was acquired by Snap-on Incorporated, a leading American designer, manufacturer, and marketer of high-end tools and equipment headquartered in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Today, Bahco operates as a flagship brand within SNA Europe, the European division of Snap-on, maintaining its classic Nordic design principles, ergonomics, and engineering standards under American parent ownership.
