No Name is one of Canada's most recognizable private label brands, launched by Loblaws in 1978. It was originally introduced as a way to provide consumers with basic household and food staples at a lower price point by using simple yellow and black packaging and eliminating expensive advertising.

While No Name butter is specifically produced for the Canadian market, its manufacturing occurs at various dairy facilities across Canada. Because dairy in Canada is strictly regulated under the supply management system, the butter is sourced and processed primarily within Canadian borders using local cream.

Today, the brand is owned and managed by Loblaw Companies Limited, which is Canada's largest food retailer. The brand remains a core part of Loblaws' strategy to offer value-tier options alongside their premium President's Choice line.
