E. Wedel is Poland's oldest chocolate brand, established in 1851 by Karol Wedel in Warsaw. The company became a national icon, known for its high-quality cocoa products and specialty items like the Torcik Wedlowski, a hand-decorated wafer cake that has been a staple of Polish confectionery for generations. The brand's signature is the founder's own handwriting, which still serves as the company logo today.

Throughout its history, the company underwent nationalization during the communist era under the name '22 Lipca' before returning to the Wedel family name. In the modern era, ownership transitioned through various global conglomerates, including PepsiCo and Cadbury (later Kraft Foods/Mondelez). Since 2010, the brand has been owned by the Lotte Group, a multinational conglomerate based in Japan and South Korea, which has maintained the brand's production facilities in Poland to preserve its heritage and quality standards.
